Anya Mielniczek is a Toronto-based mixed media artist whose mastery of classical figurative drawing combined with bold, imaginative colours and textures, results in stunning, provocative pieces. She blends fine art with discarded items, often making a statement on our society’s consumerist practices. Her work is experimental and constantly evolving, as exemplified by the wide range of media she utilizes in various pieces. Plastic bags, candy wrappers and acrylic paint have been used to create everything from environmentally-conscious longboards to abstracted portraits.
Ms. Mielniczek holds a BFAH from Queen’s University, and most recently completed a residency at INSTINC in Singapore. Her work has been exhibited both locally and internationally, across Toronto, Poland and Indonesia.
